Over the last 6 years many of you have become familiar with a beer that is very near and dear to us here on Fanø, “Red Wedding”. Aged for a year in red wine barrels “Red Wedding” carries over the acidic characters of red wine and lightly toasted oak and marries them with the flavours of chocolate and coffee belonging to our base stout to create what we feel is a very special drinking experience. Two years ago, when we began expanding our barrel program in earnest we saw it as an opportunity to also expand “Red Wedding” and not just in the total volume that we could make available to people but also in the way that we could present the beer and the flavours we could partner with it and in 2021 we were able to release “White Wedding”, a white-port barrel-aged version of the same base stout. The end result was something completely new; a sweet mix of fortified wine, almonds and vanilla imparted by the newly selected barrels lifted the beer into a new territory. Well, this year we are both proud and excited to introduce the newest addition to our “Wedding” family, “Black Wedding”. Once again, made from the same base-beer as the Red and the White releases, “Black Wedding” spent 8 months resting in freshly emptied Stauning Whisky barrels which had previously been used to store Maple Syrup. The resulting beer is filled with flavours of roasted coffee beans, chocolate, maple syrup, vanilla and toasted oak. Our only hope is that you all love it as much as we do here on Fanø. Cheers, Steve
